Biography

Alfio Pignotti was chairman of the string department of the Interlochen Arts Academy for three years before joining the faculty at Eastern Michigan University in 1969. From 1958 to 1965, Pignotti was concertmaster of the San Antonio Symphony and the New Orleans Philharmonic, appearing as soloist many times with both groups. He toured the United States as soloist and concertmaster of the Chicago Little Symphony and has performed extensively in chamber music concerts in such centers as New York City, Woodstock, New York, and Music Mountain, Connecticut.

Scope and Contents note From the Fonds: Photography has always been important to the National Music Camp, and photos exist from the earliest years of the Camp. Beginning in circa 1944, a concerted effort was made each year to fully document camp life. A professional photographer was on site throughout the season, taking high quality, usually staged, photographs. These consisted of group shots of each of the camper cabins, and numerous individual shots of campers and instructors. These photos were developed on-site in the campus...
